Mary M. Maisio
Mary Mildred Maisio, 61, of Cass Lake, formerly of Ponsford, died Saturday, July 22, 2006 at the Palliative Care Unit of MeritCare South Hospital in Fargo from cancer.
She was born Nov. 10, 1944, to Levi and Jennie (Nieminen) Dormanen in Detroit Lakes.
She married Alfred W. Maisio Feb. 11, 1961 in Osage. They lived in the Twin Cities. She graduated from Minnesota School of Beauty. She operated in-home salons, and owned and operated a beauty shop in Coon Rapids. They moved to the iron range where she was an instructor at beauty colleges in Hibbing and Virginia. She co-opened the Bemidji Beauty Academy in Bemidji. She was part owner of All Beauty Supply and operated her own salon in her home, "Mary's Hair Fashion," until her retirement.
She was a member of a CB radio club and her handle was "Feather foot."

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Linda M. (Leonard) Ander-son of Wadena and Drenda M. (Jesse) Evans; two youngest grandchildren, Larissa and Jerod whom they adopted; two brothers, Arnold (Joyce) Heinonen and John (JoAnn) Dormanen; four other grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Darin A.; her parents; two sisters, Virginia and Tyne; five brothers, Orvald, Marvin, Wesley, Vernon and Milton.
Funeral: Thursday, July 27 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cass Lake, with Revs. Peter Rosenkvist and Elmer Yliniemi officiating.
Honorary casketbearers: Matthew and Mark Maisio, Michael Heinonen, Kenneth Hyry, Jeff Arola and Aaron Conklin.
Active casketbearers: Anthony Salin, John Evans, Michael Stevens, Ryan Johnson, Clinton Yliniemi and Randy Conklin.
Interment: Snellman Cemetery in Snellman.
