Marilyn Mae Hinkley-Pickett, 78, of Park Rapids, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at her home.
She was born Oct. 2, 1929 in Webster, SD to William and Lorna (Krueger) May. As a small girl, she moved with her family to the Badoura area. She attended the North Badoura District #16 Country School near her home. As a young woman, she moved to Park Rapids where she clerked in several stores.
On April 11, 1948, she married Robert D. Hinkley at St. Johns Lutheran Church at Badoura.
On Nov. 12, 1959, her husband, Robert, while working as a lineman for the Minnesota Power Co., was electrocuted on the job.
In 1985, she married Henry G. Pickett. She retired from the Bishop's Department Store in 1986.

She was a member of St Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids and had also been a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church of Park Rapids. She was a member of the Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post Auxiliary 212 in Park Rapids and also the Park Rapids Eagles Aerie 870.
Surviving are her three children, Linda (Tex) Petersen of Park Rapids, Richard (Jeannie) Hinkley of Seattle, WA and Alan Hinkley of Park Rapids; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three step-granddaughters; 12 siblings, Betty Teigen, Don (Joanne), Jim (Nancy), Billie (Martin) Cox, Claudia (Gary) Vik, Gary (Ilea), Larry (Rilla), Bruce (Chris) and Alice (Arnold) Samuelson all of Park Rapids, Cliff (Gwen) of Ponsford, Karen (Mike) Freeman of Jefferson City, MO and Tom (Sandi) of Osage; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; two brothers, Gerald and Dennis; sister, Deanna; sister-in-law, Carol May and brother-in-law, Gordon Teigen.
Funeral service: Monday, Sept. 8 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids with Rev. James Neubauer officiating.
Honorary casket bearers: Jennifer Bliss, Megan, Sally and Sheri Hinkley, Michelle Ulvin, Sarah Girtz, Shelly Petersen, Brittany Sherman, Stacey Offerdahl, Jamie and Katie Pickett.

Internment: Greenwood Cemetery of Park Rapids.
