Andrew Joseph Haman, 27, appeared Monday in Beltrami County District Court charged with felony fifth-degree possession of marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms. At approximately 2:24 p.m., Beltrami County Sheriff's Office deputies executed a search warrant at a residence on the 1600 block of Pamela Court NW. Haman was confronted by law enforcement officers and placed under arrest, but refused to cooperate and tried to escape, according to a criminal complaint. Law enforcement subdued Haman with a Taser. Inside the residence and garage, deputies found "a large grow operation for controlled substances," court documents stated. A large quantity of mushrooms in propagation, cultivation and drying stages were found in addition to evidence of processing and packaging. Deputies located 33 mature, growing marijuana plants and additional pounds of marijuana when a search warrant was executed, according to a sheriff's office report. Some plants were more than five feet tall. Scales, growing lights, packaging materials, a dehydrator and fertilizer were also fou nd. Fifth-degree possession of marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Haman's criminal history includes felony drug possession, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and obstructing legal process. Haman is being held in the Beltrami County Jail. Conditional bail has been set at $50,000. Haman's next court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
