Grand Forks Sheriff's deputies responded Thursday night to a report of an accidental shooting in Manvel, N.D., several sources said.
A dispatcher said the Sheriff's Office will not release any information until today.
Altru Hospital said the victim was in critical condition late Thursday night.
Radio traffic about 7:30 p.m. indicated that an 82-year-old man had somehow discharged a firearm, perhaps a rifle, into his stomach. A neighbor said he noticed Altru Ambulance and other emergency responders on the street, but didn't know what happened.
The Manvel Fire Department also responded.
