A warrant has been issued for a man accused of sexually assaulting a
28-year-old Fargo woman in April.
Melvin Douglas Lewis Jr. is charged in Cass County District Court with gross sexual imposition and is accused of using physical actions to compel a woman to submit to sexual acts, court documents state.
Lewis, 39 or 40, and the woman are known to one another.
If convicted of the Class AA felony charge, Lewis faces a minimum mandatory 20 years imprisonment and up to life in prison without parole.

Police were unable to reach Lewis to interview him about the case because he is believed to have left the state, court documents state.
