A fire at a south Fargo apartment building killed a man in his late 20s Wednesday night.
The identity of the man, who lived on the third floor, has not been released.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Fargo Fire Capt. Randy Weiss said.
The fire was reported at 11:10 p.m. in a three-story apartment building at 1522 E. Gateway Circle, which is just south of 13th Avenue South and west of 25th Street.
A man who lives next to the unit where the fire started happened to be leaving his apartment when he saw smoke and flames in the hallway and ran out of the building to call 911, Weiss said.

The victim, who died as a result of the fire, was found outside his apartment in the common hallway, Weiss said.
Firefighters kept the flames confined to the one apartment and a hallway. There was extensive smoke damage on the third floor.
Damage was estimated at $80,000.
All of the tenants were forced from the building. The Red Cross helped find shelter for three of them, and the rest went to stay with family or friends, Weiss said.
Firefighters had the blaze under control by 11:35 p.m. They monitored the building overnight for security reasons and turned it back over to its owner at 7 a.m., Weiss said, adding the building is structurally sound.
