A Mahnomen man died south of town early Sunday morning when the car he was driving collided with a train.
According to the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office, Timothy Goodman, 45, was driving on 140th Street when he crossed the railroad tracks.
Around 3:31am, a Canadian Pacific train struck Goodman’s vehicle.
The train that collided with Goodman’s vehicle attempted to stop prior to hitting the car.
Goodman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Goodman’s body was taken to Grand Forks for an autopsy and the accident is under investigation.
