Park Rapids League of Women Voters has been holding a series of programs this year about our unique and vital resource - water.
Managing groundwater is a huge responsibility for the citizens of this area. The programs have been highlighting topics associated with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ Straight River Pilot Groundwater Management Area (GWMAs ).
This group is a study project to learn how to effectively create and establish GWMAs in other places facing groundwater management challenges. The group hopes to present a summary of their findings next fall.
The fourth program in the series will be presented by Frank Steumke, Minnesota Rural Water Association Circuit Rider, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 7 at the Park Rapids Area Library community room (lower level but handicap accessible).
MRWA was set up under the 1974 Clean Water Act and is charged with a mission to provide the latest information, education, and technical assistance to protect our public waters and improve the quality of life in Minnesota.
Steumke will explain the role and purpose of Technical Advisors/trainers with MRWA.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend this free program. Light refreshments will be served. Please note this program will be held at the library this time.
