Mari Jo Lohmeier hopes to create more awareness of Hubbard County's 4-H program as she steps into her new role as program coordinator.
Lohmeier previously worked as Century School's 8th Hour coordinator. In that job she developed programming and worked hands-on with students in after school activities.
Last week, Lohmeier worked with 4-H volunteers on training and received feedback on expectations and goals for the clubs.
"I found out we have a really great group of volunteers," she said. "Some have done this for 20-30 years."
They might not have kids involved in 4-H anymore but they really love the program and want to continue the tradition, Lohmeier said.

"The list of volunteers is tremendous," she said.
In her role, Lohmeier will work on giving the clubs the resources they need to have successful meetings and programs.
"One leader, for example loves working with the kids but doesn't like all the paperwork involved," she said. "I can help with that."
She also hopes to work with the kids by attending some of the club meetings.
"I'm so used to working directly with kids. I kind of miss that," Lohmeier said.
She wants to put together more countywide 4-H activities. Right now, there aren't a lot of those besides the fair, she said.
"Another thing is promotion," Lohmeier added.
The public in general isn't aware that 4-H isn't just about agriculture and sewing.

Now, students can learn photography, robotics and more. There are activities for every interest, she said.
By increasing awareness of 4-H Lohmeier also hopes to gain enrollment.
She is looking for a volunteer to head up a robotics group and would like to start up a new shooting sports club. Also, she would like to have a quilting group.
Upcoming events include a countywide fruit sale and a horse show. The county fair is July 17-21.
Lohmeier plans to attend each of the club's meetings over the next several months and will be implementing some new programming.
"I think I will bring my own style to this and look forward to working with the kids and digging in," she said.
