Two injured in head-on crash near Nevis

Two vehicles collided Monday afternoon, Nov. 7, on State Hwy. 34, just west of Nevis by Echo Ridge Drive, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Two vehicles collided Monday afternoon on State Hwy. 34, just west of Nevis by Echo Ridge Drive.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2015 Buick Encore was traveling westbound on Hwy. 34 and a 2009 Ford Fusion was traveling eastbound when “the vehicles made contact, sideswiping each other, causing a crash” at 1:14 p.m.

The driver of the Buick was identified as Rozanne Engel, 82, of Park Rapids. John Erickson, 72, of Laporte was driving the Ford.

Both had non-life-threatening injuries. Erickson was transported to CHI St. Joseph’s Health.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that both were wearing seat belts, road conditions were dry and alcohol was not involved in the crash.

Also responding to the scene were the Nevis Fire Department and Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office.
