Townships report March 2022 election results

Annual meetings at area townships saw anywhere from eight to 45 voters show up, despite conditions that Pine Point Town Clerk Gertrude Maninga described as stormy.

Several townships in Hubbard, Wadena and Becker counties voted in supervisors and other officials at the townships’ annual meetings on March 8.

Other townships have their officer elections in November.

Except where otherwise noted, supervisors were elected for a three-year term and clerks or treasurers for a two-year term.

  • Blueberry Twp: Dennis Carlson was elected to a three-year term as supervisor and Jayne Pickar to a two-year term as clerk. There were 13 voters.
  • Carsonville Twp.: Helen Drewes was elected to a two-year term as clerk two-year and Steven Lymburner for a three-year term as supervisor. There were 15 voters.
  • Crow Wing Lake Twp.: Larry Smith was elected to a 3-year term as supervisor and Brian Ford to a 2-year term as clerk. A total of 14 voters participated.
  • Fern Twp.: Pat Lessmann was re-elected as supervisor and Kim Watkins was re-elected as clerk. 
  • Green Valley Twp.: Aaron Skaro was elected to a 3-year term as supervisor, Nick Aho to a 1-year term as supervisor, Bruce Boren to a 2-year term as supervisor and Sarah Maninga to 2-year term as clerk. 19 voters participated in the election.
  • Hart Lake Twp.: Hart Lake Township had 18 voters turn out for the election. Tom Lindahl was re-elected for supervisor for a 3-year term and Charlotte Rauch was re-elected for clerk for a 2-year term
  • Huntersville Twp.: The township election had 12 votes. Judy Salonek was re-elected for another 2 years as clerk, and Kelly Dudley won a 3-year term as supervisor with 9 write-in votes.
  • Lake Hattie Twp.: Bruce Malterud was re-elected to a 3-year term as supervisor and Christopher Parthun to a 2-year term as clerk. There were 12 voters.
  • Osage Twp.: Andrew Holmer was re-elected for supervisor. Peter Ennen was elected for a one-year term as supervisor and Eileen Hache for a two-year term as clerk. There were 28 voters.
  • Pine Point Twp.: Dawn Miller was elected as supervisor for a 3-year term and Gertrude Maninga as clerk for a 2-year term. There were 8 voters.
  • Savannah Twp.: Winifred Thelen was re-elected as supervisor, and Barbara Busch was reelected as clerk. There were 11 voters.
  • Shell River Twp: The township had 45 in-person voters and two absentee ballots. Bonita Newhouse was re-elected as clerk for a 2-year term, and Victor Laney as a supervisor for a 3-year term.
  • Straight River Twp.: John Hockett, supervisor; Kathy Dennis treasurer. There were a total of 17 voters out of 509 registered voters.
  • Two Inlets Twp.: Dave Keller was re-elected as supervisor and Adeline Retz re-elected as clerk. There were 18 voters.
  • Wolf Lake Twp.: Lori Aho was re-elected as clerk for a 2-year term and Harry Aho was re-elected as supervisor for a 3-year term incumbent. There were 33 voters.
