Nevis FFA heading to state

The Nevis FFA Chapter started off the year sending their general livestock evaluation team to the region contest in Long Prairie on Sept. 21.

The Nevis FFA Chapter started off the year sending their general livestock evaluation team to the region contest in Long Prairie on Sept. 21.

The contest was made up of a team test, seven livestock placing classes and one set of oral reasons.

The Nevis team won second place out of 15 teams. Out of all the individuals competing in this contest, Mallory Kowalke placed fourth and Blake Kowalke placed fifth overall. The top five teams qualified to compete at the FFA State Convention in April.

Nevis school theater students are hosting Nevissance, a Renaissance-style festival, from 12-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19 in the small gym. There is no admission charge for the event or to watch performances of the skit "A Knight's Tale" by Monroe Oxley.The short skit will be performed at 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
