Guajardo is Park Rapids High student of the month for April 2022
Evelyn Guajardo, the daughter of Libertad Ramirez and Jose Guajardo, hopes one day to own her own business as a licensed cosmetologist.
Everlyn Guajardo is the April student of the month at Park Rapids Area High School.
The daughter of Libertad Ramirez and Jose Guajardo, Evelyn has been involved in theater, speech, book club, National Honor Society, the Minnesota State High School League art show and the Panthers First program.
According to a school questionnaire, Evelyn has dreamed for as long as she can remember of owning her own business as a licensed cosmetologist. Toward this goal, she plans to study at the Salon Professional Academy in West Fargo, N.D. this fall.
First, however, she will join the Northern Light Opera Company in their production of “Hello, Dolly!” this summer. Guajardo said theater has been an incredible light in her life throughout high school, and she is thankful for opportunities PRAHS has given her for the future.
Business teacher Angie Kuehn said, “I only had Evy in class one time, but I enjoyed having her so much. She was very interested and engaged in the class and always strived to do her best. I really enjoyed watching her on stage – she really shines. I am also very impressed by her artistic abilities. I see a very bright future for Evy and she is very deserving of this award.”
English teacher Kerry Johnson said, “I always enjoyed having Evelyn in class. Her positive energy and her creativity make any classroom better. She's also not afraid of hard work, and she is always ready for a challenge. I have no doubt she will continue to do great things. Congrats, Evelyn!”
Academic advisor Vicki Schroeder said, “Evy Guajardo is a light at this school. She is always positive and enthusiastic, and she is a wonderful leader and role model for younger students.”
Art teacher Mike Hartung said, “Evelyn is a wonderful student and excels at theater, speech and the visual arts. I really appreciate her work ethic, strong drive to do her best and her leadership qualities. Her artwork amazes me, and she goes beyond the goals I set for her. She won ‘Best of Show’ in painting and mixed media at the Section 8A visual arts competition. Evelyn is very deserving of this award, and I am proud of her.”
Appearing before the school board on April 19, Guajardo said, “I would just like to thank the teachers who nominated me for this. I wasn’t expecting it. … I’m just glad that I have such a positive community surrounding me.”
