In addition to the annual Thanksgiving dinner being served up at Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids, free dinners will also be served in Menahga and Akeley on Thursday.

Akeley Regional Community Center

A free Thanksgiving dinner will be served from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Akeley Regional Community Center gym. The menu includes turkey and a variety of side dishes, pie and beverages. Funds for the dinner are provided by the ARCC. Dinners will be packed up for takeout for anyone who requests it when they arrive.

Volunteers are needed to help get the meal ready to serve from 9 a.m. to noon on Thanksgiving Day. For more information, call Lori Muller at 317-408-7916.

Menahga VFW

In Menahga, a free turkey dinner sponsored by the Menahga Lions Club is being served at the VFW at 17 Aspen Ave. S. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Menahga City Council discussed its options – besides extending the deadline, again, for the administrator/clerk/treasurer position – at their Monday, Nov. 28 meeting.
