Park Rapids Area Schools graduated approximately 120 students on Friday – kindergarten students, that is.
Kindergarten graduation was divided into two ceremonies, held an hour apart in the Century School gymnasium.
“It’s a very special day for us,” said Elementary Principal Mike LeMier. “We celebrate the hard work of our kindergartners. They have grown in their learning and their skills. … It is nothing short of incredible, the changes our kids have gone through the last 167 short days.”
Before receiving their diplomas, the rising first graders sang four songs that music teacher Kirsten Edevold said they chose themselves. The songs included the Panther chant/cheer song, “On the Day I Was Born” with sign language, “I Like Me” and “Echo Canyon,” with the audience participating in the echo effect.
“We are all so proud of our kindergartners,” said LeMier. “Thank you to our parents and family members for being such a great support to them as they start their academic journey with us.”
