A 20-year-old Cass Lake man died after an ATV crash Saturday in Cass County.
According to a media release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, an ATV accident with injury was reported at 9:32 p.m. May 7 on the Migizi Bike Trail in Pike Bay Township, east of Cass Lake.
Responding deputies learned that the victim was driving a 2020 Polaris Sportsman ATV when he lost control on a curve, veered off the trail and struck a tree, the release states. The driver was found with several serious injuries.
Deputies and responders began providing medical aid, and an ambulance carried the man to the Cass Lake Indian Health Services hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, the release states.
Assisting at the scene were Leech Lake Tribal Police Department, Leech Lake Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care.

According to the release, speed seems to be a factor in the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
