The annual National Night Out, an effort to build relationships between neighbors and police, will kick off at the Paul Bunyan Patio in Akeley on Tuesday, Aug. 2, beginning at 4:30 p.m. with kids’ games, face painting and free snow cones.

A free meal of barbecue turkey or hot dog, chips, lemonade and ice cream will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. There will also be live music by Paradigm. Anyone with a classic car is invited to bring it to the event for an informal “Blast from the Past” car show.
