Rev. Lewis F. Allin
April 2, 1923 - May 31, 2006
Lewis F. Allin, age 83, passed away at home in Park Rapids on May 31, 2006. He was born in Grand Rapids, MN on April 2, 1923 to Frederick and Frances Allin. Growing up in Hill City and Aitkin, he graduated Hill City High School in 1949 and Itasca Junior College in 1942. He then served in the Army Air Corps in China-Burma-India. He also earned a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota. After working in Venezuela he was called to the ministry and received a Masters of Divinity from Drew University, NJ.
He married Joyce Carter of Fairmont, MN on Sep. 3, 1950.
Lew served United Methodist Churches in MacGregor, Delano, Princeton, South St. Paul, Faribault, and Wells before retiring in 1988. He also served at the Red Bird Mission in Kentucky.

Lew had a lifelong love of nature, enjoying tennis, biking, canoeing, skiing, and bird watching. He loved being a camp counselor at Methodist camps. He and Joyce loved travelling and singing in the church choir.
Lew is preceded in death by his wife Joyce in 1988, and his brother Willard one month ago. He is survived by three children: David and Linda, of Grand Junction, CO, Kevin and Amy of Northfield, and Carol of Minneapolis. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Lauren and Daniel of Northfield, sister-in-law Beverly, nephews Craig and Kent, and mother-in-law Gail Tullar of Park Rapids.
Memorial services: will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, June 9, 2006 at Riverside United Methodist Church of Park Rapids.
Interment: will be in Hill City, MN. Memorials suggested to Red Bird Mission or the Park Rapids Kinship program.
