Vote yes for Nevis school, community

The small town of Nevis is prospering due to the community members who support the local businesses, churches and school in the community. We have lived here 14 years and seen how the town has grown. New people have moved into the community because of the small class sizes of the school, quality teachers and staff that provide a very good education.

The school district is financially sound. Nevis school attracts students from other areas for the above reasons, which makes our community very proud. These students bring along approximately $6,000 per student per year in state aid, along with their many athletic and musical abilities that only enrich our school and community. They are also purchasing items at area businesses.

Grandparents Day was just held at the Nevis School and many comments were, "Is it always this crowded?" The answer is, "Yes, it is." The bond referendum coming up on April 25 is to provide space for the students we have, eliminate temporary buildings and provide handicap-accessible locker rooms. Taxes will increase very little compared to what the students at Nevis School will gain.

Education is a priority in my book. I hope you make it a priority Tuesday, April 25, to come to the polls and vote yes for the students of the future of the community.
