Thanks for support of special weekend
As the popular adage goes, "It takes a village to raise a child," it also "takes a village to support a chemically free weekend."
The Youth Issues Network of Hubbard County would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the Nevis and Park Rapids merchants and St. Joseph's Hospital for their contributions to the Chemically Free Weekend, March 24 - 27. The events of the weekend were a huge success!
A special thank you needs to be expressed to Pine Manor Treatment Center for the donation of three iPods that were given away at the weekend's events. Also, kudos to Todd Fritze, Park Rapids pool manager, who came in on his Saturday off to help supervise over 110 individuals participating in the open swim event. It turned out to be a wonderful problem of "crowd control" we had to solve, with Todd's help.
Over 700 students, Grades 5-12, and adults in our county pledged to be chemically free for that weekend. We are proud of all of the participants, and look forward to next year!
