I'm writing to thank the many people who personally came to me and expressed their agreement with my letter, "Racism in America: A Double Standard?" I was surprised at how many people agreed with my views and had thought the same thing, but had never come outright and expressed that.
It seems that in their silence they further proved my point. They were afraid that if they came forth with their views - people would criticize them and make them feel as if what they were thinking was something to be guilty about.
I think the most valuable support I received, though, was from a Native American friend of mine who basically said to me that I was completely right and that the way our society has molded and mutated racism into a twisted double standard is evident.

Again, thank you to everyone who took the time to literally thank me for coming out and saying what I said. To me, writing what I wrote wasn't hard at all. I was just pointing out the obvious.
