The Wolf Lake Rescue Squad would like to thank everyone who helped make our Sept. 21 Fall Feast a success. The community support that day was tremendous. KRCQ radio once again did an incredible job advertising for the event.
A special thank you to the Klondike Café in Wolf Lake for the meat and other items donated. Thank you to all the merchants in Wolf Lake, Menahga, Park Rapids, Perham, Frazee and Detroit Lakes who gave items for the silent auction and door prizes.
At this time our rescue squad has 13 members covering an area of approximately 180 square miles with a population of over one thousand people. Our organization is funded by donations from six townships, the City of Wolf Lake, other private organizations and individuals. We do not charge for calls and all members volunteer their time and vehicles to answer calls. When a person steps down from the squad there are no retirement compensations.
We have ongoing expenses for supplies, pagers, radios, maintenance of our rig, training of new members to be certified and ongoing training for recertification for all members.
At this time we are in the process of building a facility which will give us a larger meeting room for trainings, house our rescue rig and sled, provide better security for our medicines and private records. The members of the rescue squad have spent countless hours in planning, doing paperwork and fundraising for this facility to happen.

Arlan Kangas of the Midwest Minnesota Community Development Corporation is responsible for assisting us in obtaining a grant for our organization to help purchase the land and Andrew Gag of the USDA Rural Development has done an outstanding job in helping secure the loan and grant needed for the building.
The enthusiasm and support the community has shown the rescue squad in planning for the future has been uplifting and deeply appreciated. It shows our efforts and work in the community are valued.
