Summer resident questions priorities

I am a summer resident of Hubbard County, one of those summer invaders whose taxes has quadrupled in the past five years.

But you know what, I almost don't care. I am also a year-round subscriber to the Park Rapids Enterprise and it is worth the price of admission to pick up the Enterprise twice a week and watch area officials and others squander the money.

There is, God knows, how much money, for people to go around and sniff septic tanks while the sheriff begs for money to prosecute meth dealers. There always seems to be $1,000 for a custom loon nest (with umbrella), but a teacher can't get a $100 raise. Some poor slob will get tracked down and prosecuted for carpeting his outhouse without a permit, while students beg for heat in their portable classrooms.

This is just an opinion, but here's what I think the area ought to do - form an "Ad hoc, coalition, grassroots, task force impact team, coordinated by moderators and stewards with comprehensive monitoring skills." (sic)
