I would like to call attention to the incorrect use of the term "poll watchers" in the Enterprise lead article of Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008. The officials referred to are Election Judges, not "poll watchers."
On page 9A there is a picture of Karen Kok, who the Enterprise refers to as a "poll watcher." Not true! Karen Kok was an election judge at the Lake Emma Township polling place and she was registering a voter. By definition, a poll watcher is "someone who is appointed by a candidate or a political party to observe the Election Day procedures in a precinct." Most importantly, conversations between "poll watchers" and voters are not permitted within the polling place, and so your article, by implication, has Karen committing an illegal act. This definitely was not the case, as she was an election judge doing her sworn duty.
