Letters: Paintball incident prompts warning

This letter is about an experience I had July 12 at approximately 10:30 in the evening. I was driving home on Highway 40 and had just gone through the intersection of Highway 7. This intersection is about two miles north of Dorset.

I heard two loud bangs hit my pickup. First, I thought I was being shot at, then I thought maybe a bolt or something fell off the truck. I continued home with no further incidents and quickly forgot.

The next day I noticed a big white spot on the door jam next to my driver's window. There was also a spot on my camper top, and this one made a dent.

Someone's little geniuses had shot at me with a paintball gun.

I called the sheriff's office and Deputy Greg Swanstrom came to investigate. He told me the same thing happened at Highway 40 and Highway 2, one mile north of Nevis, just the week before. That time they escaped on four-wheelers.

These guns shoot with enough force that if my window had been down and I had been hit in the face there could have been a horrible accident.

So, if you live in the Nevis-Dorset area, your kids have paintball guns and four-wheelers, you better check what they are doing because next time they may not be so lucky and someone could get hurt or even lose their life.
