Autumn is here. Trees show the changing seasons. Leaves that were so soon green last spring are soon gold, soon red, soon gone. September fades into October. And in the classroom adventures run high.

Already your child's new world is filled with the names of people she didn't know last summer. Others are bringing happiness into her day. Another adult has emerged as an authority figure.

You've already realized your youngster will go to places you will never know and live in a universe you will never experience. Into that unknown future your child will carry the gifts of character you've bestowed. Meanwhile, there is ample time for you to continue to do good. Have you counted the months you have left?

Your magic number is 152. That's the number of months remaining between now and your child's graduation from high school. Those months contain nuggets of opportunity to help you fulfill the vision you have for your child's future.

During these same 152 months your future is also expanding. You still have an exciting road to travel, further wisdom to accumulate and a strong legacy to build. Out of this mix of coming experiences you must select what is worthwhile for you and your family.

Writer A.M. Saunders Jr. speaks to this. He said: "You must never forget that what you do not value will not be valued, that what you do not remember will not be remembered, that what you do not change will not be changed, that what you do not do will not be done."
