Mailboxes not safe from snowplows

After reading the letter from Denice Phillips-Kunze in the Dec. 12 Enterprise, I felt I needed to respond. Yes, we are finally getting snow and mailboxes are getting knocked over; knocked over by snowplows not only in rural areas, but right here in town. I have a swing away type box and it has been turned around a lot. It still needs to be turned back to the street for mail delivery. Do the plows need to travel so fast? There is no need for the speed enjoyed by the drivers of those huge trucks.

Speaking of speed, what is the posted speed limit on Fair Avenue to 8th Street? Snowmobiles, 18-wheelers, buses and snowplows all seem to be going over the speed limit.

Just a note of interest, at least three snowplows went by on Dec. 12. Two at a high rate of speed and all blading the almost bare streets. Does the city have that much extra money?
