Lindgren defends legislative record

Last session, I answered only one letter to the editor, and will do the same now. I will not get into a discussion through the paper.

There was a letter recently saying what I did not do while I served in St. Paul. How out of touch can you be to compare what I did to what Brita is doing?

We were facing a $4.5 billion deficit and because of what we did, Brita can spend money now! We eliminated the deficit and still had the largest budget history to date! The so-called people who were kicked off MinnesotaCare were illegal aliens and people whose incomes were too large. There was a call for anyone who lost their health care to contact the state and it would be assessed and reinstated, but it seems the people complaining were ineligible either by income guidelines or residency.

Brita voted for the transportation bill that favored the metro area and our area here got nothing. That is not looking out for her district. Also, the Red Lake Reservation will get more than $30 million for their schools. How much did yours get?

For the record, Rep. Doug Fuller and myself did no vote yes for the education bill, because we both felt we did not get enough for our districts.

Minnesota is still the fourth highest taxed state in the nation. If we follow what the Democrats want to spend, we will soon be No. 1. Not a notoriety I would like to have!
