could do better

I think it is wonderful that a few legislators are pretending to take an interest in the environment. However, I find it just a little far fetched that these legislators can be lauded as environmentalists... none of them have opposed peat mining in the Big Bog, nor spoken out against MinnTac's continued daily discharge of millions of gallons of contaminated water without a permit, polluting the streams, rivers and lakes of northern Minnesota and Canadian waters all the way to Hudson's Bay.

In fact, Rep. Brita Sailer is on record as supporting peat mining in the Big Bog, the draining of which is destroying our primary freshwater aquifer and contributing to rising levels of mercury contamination in Lake of the Woods.

Hopefully these legislators got a good look at the "clouds" emanating from the Boswell Plant that is raining pollution on the Mississippi.

I think this newfound interest in the environment on the part of these legislators is just one more act from the circus in the Cities; nothing more than another public relations fiasco that won't amount to anything of substance.
