He's glad to see Lindgren running
I am thankful to see Doug Lindgren running for State Representative. Doug's experience and commitment to rural values and rural interests are greatly needed in St. Paul.
Dist. 2B faces the challenges of job creation, education equity and affordable healthcare options. A look at Brita Sailer's record thus far has shown no success in St. Paul and with the shut down of the Legislature shows she cannot get the job done or deliver for the residents of Dist. 2B. A look on the House of Representatives Web site shows that Rep. Sailer has chief authored 30 legislative initiatives since taking office and I cannot find one that has been passed into law. How is that for success for the residents of the district?
Rep. Sailer also voted against the Defense of Marriage Amendment in the Minnesota House of Representatives on March 31, 2005. Does this reflect the values of the district?
Sailer also voted to raise your gas taxes on May 12, 2005 on the House floor but that's not all. That vote would have also raised your taxes by allowing counties to assess an additional wheelage tax when you renewed your tabs. What did the vote accomplish though? Yes, it increased your taxes, but what did Dist. 2B get? It did not move Minnesota's transportation needs forward - it favored buses and light rail transit. Rural roads, highways and bridges all suffered under the vote Rep. Sailer took. The amendment language created an even greater divide between rural and metro communities. It was not good for the state, was not good for rural infrastructure and was not good for taxpayers.
Make time to vote next November and remember who was on board when the Legislature allowed a partial shutdown of state government for the first time in state history. I think you will agree that Doug Lindgren has the education, experience and proven leadership that make him your voice looking out for you, the residents of Dist. 2B.
