Giving thanks

during the holidays

Park Rapids is a great place to live. This Christmas season, I'm offering my thanks to some of our special citizens. Our Chamber of Commerce, for example. You will not find harder-working people anywhere, in Minnesota or another state. Their promotion and participation in events week after week was awesome.

And thank you to our fine newspaper. The Enterprise takes a backseat to no other local urban or suburban paper. The paper is responsive, sympathetic and factual in its reporting. And they have outstanding photographers. The reporters are everywhere, tireless, attending every meeting, every event.

If you have needs that take you to the courthouse or city hall, you will find the most people-oriented staffs to help you. They are as friendly and approachable as you will ever find, whether your needs are personal or legislative. Thank you for your help this year.

A special thanks to the friendly and helpful people who work the windows at the post office. The Park Rapids Post Office is head and shoulders above others and a better place because of your help. And, what a fine library staff we have. They can dig up the book of your choice from the most remote source. Thank you for being so abiding.

The merchants need a thank you during the holidays, too. How personally we are taken care of by the hard-working business people in our town; the grocery stores, service stations, banks, Main street merchants, hardware stores, lumberyards and restaurants. Our merchants and workers need your business to survive here and they work for it. They deserve a special holiday thank you.

How great it is to walk down the street and make eye contact with someone you don't know, and exchange a hearty "Good morning." People are so important. Take a few moments this holiday season to thank some of your fellow Park Rapids citizens and merchants. We've got it good here; let them know who makes it that way.
