The guest editorial in the Nov. 1 edition of the Enterprise has much truth pertaining to reality. Now that the election is over and the people have spoken, President-elect Obama has to face reality. The present problems of this country cannot be solved by faith, hope and change alone. Knowledge, judgement, experience, vision and determined resolve are going to be required.
Mr. Obama is probably thinking to himself, as he is being briefed by President Bush and his administration, that "I did what was necessary to get to the Oval Office but now that I'm here what do I do?" He's probably learning he can't fulfill his campaign promises because reality won't permit it. He's also beginning to find himself trapped between the liberal supporters such as Acorn and Move On and young people and African Americans and Senator Reed and House Speaker Pelosi and reality. His dilemma is what to do. Some of his supporters are going to be very disappointed.
President-elect Obama is an unknown. The news media that supported him but suppressed information they knew about him are now beginning to admit he is an unknown in many respects.
I believe the desire of the people as a whole is for Mr. Obama to be a successful president. They want him to lead and solve the numerous and serious problems facing us. The people will give him a chance but remain vigil and many with skepticism.
