The Park Rapids Area High School (PRAHS) Science Department would like to thank the Tall Pines Toms Chapter of the Wild Turkey Federation for donating $403 and the Park Rapids Chapter of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association for donating $275 toward the purchase of field guides.
These field guides will allow our students to have more opportunities when learning about the bird and fish species of our area. The staff and students of PRAHS want to thank all members of these organizations and let you know that we appreciate your donation and support of education.
We also would like to take this opportunity to thank the Minnesota Forest Industries for granting the Forestry Management classes $250 to help defray field trip expenses when we visit our Lake George School Forest.
During these field experiences, groups of students will work together to take an inventory of the timber, determining its volume and density. This data will then be used to determine the potential value of the timber on the property. Students will then use this data in the development of a forestry management plan for that particular piece of property.
This year the plan is to have the classes also set up a timber sale for part of our Lake George School Forest. This funding helps make opportunities like this possible for the students of PRAHS.
