The Cub Scouts have recently wrapped up their annual popcorn fundraiser. On behalf of the Cub Scouts of Pack 58, Park Rapids, a great big thank you goes out to all those who supported our local boys by purchasing popcorn. Whether they knocked on your door, passed an order form around your work, called you on the phone, or asked you in person, we appreciate your willingness to help them with their fundraiser by your gracious support.
A portion of each Scout's sales is set aside into an account for them to use at their discretion, (with parents consent) to be used for Scouting related things, whether it be for camp registration fees for summer day camps, winter camps, overnight resident camps, Scouting items needed for their uniforms like new neckerchiefs, yearly dues or anything they choose from the Scout shop. The rest is used by the pack to provide a fun and quality program for the Scouts by encouraging them to "do their best" and rewarding them with the many patches, merit badges, and other items.
Without a successful fundraiser, none of this would be possible. The sense of pride these boys get and learn from this is invaluable.
Thanks goes to Collette Baldwin and Lena Seidl for donating your time and coming in for the day to help with the sorting process. It truly was a team effort and worked together fantastically. To Melinda Barrett for serving as co-chair of the popcorn drive and your hours of help sitting at my kitchen table counting, tallying and totaling up each and every order to ensure we had everything down to the penny.
Finally, a special thanks goes out to Jerry Eischens for allowing us to use his workshop for the semi truck load delivery of the hundreds of boxes of popcorn. He sets aside his day and time to help us break down and sort through all the individual orders to ensure everything is right. He also is a drop point for other area packs. We appreciate his continued support of the Scouts and his friendship.
