In the president's Dec. 18, 2005 speech on Iraq, he alluded to corruption in Iraq as one of the problems that needs to be dealt with. Very insightful!
Why then does he not use the bully pulpit to encourage Congressional investigation of corruption within his own administration, the Republican-dominated Congress and the power brokers of corporate America? I hear nothing from the president regarding Republican efforts to stifle investigations or silence debate.
Oh, silly me! It's got to be because Karl Rove, Ralph Reed, Bill Frist, Ken Lay, Scooter Libby, Tom Delay, Jack Abramoff, Scooter Libby, Bob Ney, Duke Cunningham, Bernie Ebers, et al, are among those under suspicion, indictment and/or incarceration for corruption. In Bush's case, any investigations would likely hit pretty close to home.
In any case, there will be no congressional investigations of corruption so long as the Republicans retain a majority in Congress.
Alas, birds of a feather still flock together.
