Mr. Engel is singing the wrong song. If by "wrap-around signs" he is referring to the billboards at Jokela's auction grounds, those were donated to the Orange Cross Organization by an out-of-town sign company that believes so strongly in communities supporting education, they wanted to endorse our mission.

Our files show we did receive a quote from Mr. Engel in August for yard signs, which was significantly higher than the quote chosen.

Local sign painters were not contacted because painted signs were not used for this campaign. The painted signs around town are recycled from previous levy campaigns.

To further clarify things, this effort is for an "operating levy referendum" (operating expenses), which is very different from a "bond referendum" (construction, addition or remodel of a building).

Support education-support our community. Vote "yes" on Nov. 7.
