Blood drive
a success
A total of 61 people volunteered to donate blood during St. Joseph's Area Health Services' blood drive, from which 52 units of red blood cells were collected. Eight donors donated on the automated 2RBC machine, which collects two units of red blood cells at once. Twelve of the donors gave for their first time.
Cynthia Rooney coordinated the drive. The St. Joseph's Area Health Services Auxiliary sponsored and assisted with recruiting donors, publicity, providing refreshments and registering donors. Many others assisted the day of the drive. Special thanks to Sister Margaret Smith.
Donations will help meet the blood needs of many patients in 73 area hospitals served by United Blood Services. Blood is for sharing; you have truly given the "gift of life."
