Nearly everything that can be said about the school levy referendum has already been stated: the school administration and levy supporters have identified the specific uses to which the levy money would be put (preserving extracurricular activities and restoring reasonable class sizes), the consequences of a failed referendum are known (elimination of all extracurriculars and skyrocketing class sizes) and the way the community will be guaranteed the levy funding will be spent where intended has been decided (a task force of community members has been appointed to advise the administration).
Sometimes we can over-think the issue. Here are the straightforward questions we ask ourselves: Do our youth deserve the same opportunities as those in other communities throughout the state? As citizens, are we willing to do what nearly 90 percent of all school districts in Minnesota have done for their youth? And finally, and maybe most importantly, is this community better off if we do or do not pass this referendum?
For us, the answers to these questions are clear. Please join us in voting yes for the referendum on Nov. 7.
