I have enjoyed the continuing beauty of Park Rapids and the surrounding area on our annual visits for more than 35 years; the beautiful lakes and rivers, Itasca Park and the unique downtown of Park Rapids with its display of flowers in the spring.
I especially enjoy Heartland Park. I appreciate the efforts made by your sanitation, maintenance and police/sheriff departments to keep the park clean and safe. I was amazed at the cleanup after the 4th - kudos!
The 4th of July parade was one of the best parades I have seen in Park Rapids. I commend the theme. Perhaps, honoring our veterans could be a continuing theme. After all, isn't that what the 4th of July is all about? On the 4th we are all celebrating our independence as a free nation and thanking those who have protected that independence and freedom. The patriotism shown in the parade and by the spectators was refreshing and filled my heart.
