Lenard Martin Ridlon, 76, of Akeley died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007 at his home.

He was born Aug. 31, 1931 in Lee Township, Beltrami County. He attended the Center Country School south of Akeley and Akeley High School. In June 1952, he entered the US Army and was stationed in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in March 1954 then served eight years in the Army Re-serves.

He married Diane E. Le-nander Sept. 2, 1966 at Sisse-ton, SD. They lived in Little Falls, Anoka and moved to Akeley in 1973. He worked as a mechanic most of his life, owning and operating Ridlon's Repair and Towing for five years before going to work for Badoura State Nursery. He retired in Sep-tember 1993.

He was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Akeley, serving on the church council. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Harold Harris Post 8508 and American Legion Post 212 in Park Rapids. He was a former member of the Akeley City Council and White Oak Township Board. He served as firefighter and chief for the Akeley Fire Department. He was cur-rently president of the Akeley Senior Citizens Club.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Randy (Julie) and Michael (Tina); brother, Glen of Park Rapids; two sisters, Pearl Semmler of Jacobson and Ella "Susie" (Walter) Scott of Coon Rap-ids; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son; brother, Ernie; and a sister, Betty Thornton.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21 at Cease Family Funeral Home in Nevis and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22 at St. John's Lu-theran Church with Pastor Harvey Kietzman officiat-ing. Ardis Johnson will be the organist and Christie Semmler will sing "The Lord's Prayer" and "In the Garden." Congregational hymns will be "Borning Cry," "Abide with Me" and "Amazing Grace."

Casketbearers: Galen Negan, Jerome Bayman, Alvin Roetman, Bob and Dick Dalen, Ron Ruuska, Jim Webber and Scott Sie-bert.

Interment: Akeley Ceme-tery.

Military honors will be provided by the All Veter-ans Ceremonial Burial Team.
