A Larimore, N.D., man was listed in stable condition at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks after the helicopter he was piloting crashed Sunday morning three miles south of Arvilla, N.D., the Highway Patrol said.
Jesse Morten, 49, was applying chemicals to a potato field about 8 a.m. Morten said he experienced a mechanical problem with the aircraft, which came down in a bean field about 200 yards from Grand Forks County Road 2, the patrol said.
Morten was transported by Larimore Ambulance to Altru.
Both the Highway Patrol and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.
The FAA is also investigating the crash of a crop dusting plane three miles northeast of East Grand Forks on Aug. 22.
