BEMIDJI -- An inmate in the Beltrami County Jail assaulted two corrections officers this morning.
Nakayland James Yost, 20, of Laporte inflicted minor injuries on Corrections Sgt. Robert Exner and officer Anthony Olson at approximately 9:06 a.m., according to a release from the Beltrami County. Exner was transported to Sanford Emergency Room where he was treated and released for his injuries.
Exner and Olson were in the process of moving Yost within the jail facility when he became combative, the release said.
Yost was arrested Feb. 20 on a warrant for disorderly conduct and damage to property charges stemming from an incident in March 2013. His criminal history also includes a third-degree damage to property in Hubbard County in August. Today is Yost’s 20th birthday.
