James P. Slette, 75, of Park Rapids died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006 in Mesa, AZ from heart failure.
He was born March 28, 1931 to Peder and Ruth (Noreen) Slette in Wadena. He attended local rural schools and went to high school in Wadena. He en-listed in the National Guard with the 114 Truck Trans-portation Unit and served overseas during the Korean War. Upon returning to the US he worked on the Iron Range. He graduated from Moorhead State University. In 1957, he joined the Min-nesota Highway Patrol, serving 15 years as a state trooper. In 1971, he was ap-pointed Clay County clerk and later became district court administrator in the Moorhead district.
He married Audrey Hol-land of New Richmond, WI Oct. 14, 1961. They lived in Moorhead until his retire-ment in 1986. They moved to Park Rapids where they spent their summers. In the winter, they lived in Mesa.
He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, LouAnn Ed-wards of Ann Arbor, MI; sister, Ann Gytri of Felton; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Orvis Gy-tri.
Memorial service: Will be held in May in Park Rap-ids.
