James "Jim" Calvin Wilkins, 85, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 in Renton, Wash.
He was born Feb. 21, 1923 in Park Rapids to James and Mary Ellen (Groshong) Wilkins.
He married Carol Sanford, of Park Rapids, in Renton, Wash. on March 21, 1945 at Renton Lutheran Church. They had three children.
He was a commercial and residential carpenter. He built eight homes in the greater Renton area and two homes for his family. He also helped build many apartments in the Seattle area. From 1943 to 1945 he served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; three children: James Craig of Olympia, Wash., Mary Sue (John) Fickes of Moses Lake, Wash., and Judy Ann (Mike) Schreiner of Kent, Wash.; sister Shirley (Mel) Ream, and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother Ted (Dolly); and his sister Loretta (Chuck) Dick.
A graveside service will be in the spring. He will be buried in the Wilkins family plot in Greenwood Cemetery, Park Rapids.
