James arraigned on another drug charge

Clifford Earl James, 51, of Park Rapids was arraigned in District Court in Hubbard County Monday on a charge of second degree controlled substance crime.

Clifford Earl James, 51, of Park Rapids was arraigned in District Court in Hubbard County Monday on a charge of second degree controlled substance crime.

James is also facing controlled substance crime charges following his arrest in May. When James was arrested this time he was out on $25,000 bail.

According to the new court complaint, while investigating information received from a confidential reliable informant, the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office apprehended James in his vehicle Friday, July 18 following the alleged sale of approximately 3.3 grams of methamphetamine.

Monday Judge Paul Rasmussen set bail in the amount of $100,000 without conditions or $50,000 with conditions.

As of today (Wednesday) James remains in custody.

Maximum penalty on the charge of second degree controlled substance crime is 25 years in jail and/or a $500,000 fine.
