A 4-month-old boy stopped breathing at a Hawley, Minn., day care Tuesday and was later pronounced dead at a Fargo hospital, Clay County Sheriff's Department officials said.

Clay County Lt. Steve Todd said late Tuesday that the infant's death was still under investigation by Hawley police and Clay deputies.

Todd said the call for the incident came in about 2:11 p.m. He said the day care was within the city limits of Hawley, but he could not release the name or address of the facility because the incident was still being investigated. WDAY-TV reported at 10 p.m. that a LifeFlight helicopter had been dispatched from MeritCare Hospital.

WDAY reported that crews on the scene tried to revive the baby, but the boy was later pronounced dead at MeritCare.

According to WDAY, Clay Sheriff Bill Bergquist said nothing about the child's death appeared obviously suspicious.
