A Laporte man has been convicted by a Hubbard County jury of a Felony Violation of a Protection Order from an incident Oct. 5, 2009.
The jury found Casey Donald Christiansen, 30, guilty March 18 following a daylong trial.
Christiansen was charged with a felony because he has two prior domestic violence convictions within the last 10 years. The criminal complaint lists Chrtiansen's address as Cass Lake; his criminal record lists Laporte.
According to the criminal complaint, Christiansen choked and kneed a preg-nant woman in the stomach in violation of an order for protection.
The case was prosecuted by Hubbard County Attorney Donovan D. Dearstyne and Assistant Hubbard County Attorney Michael Plante.

Christiansen has an extensive criminal history including the assault convictions, weapons charges and some alcohol-related crimes in four Minnesota counties.
The domestic assault case was investigated by the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office. Judge Paul Rasmussen ordered a pre-sentence investigation report be prepared and sentencing will occur after completion of the report.
The charge carries a maximum penalty of 5 years and/or a $1,000 fine.
