A West Fargo man fired a gun at a burglar who entered his home Tuesday morning, but it's believed the bullet did not strike anyone, West Fargo police said.
Residents of 1139 38½ Ave. W. in the Eagle Run neighborhood awoke about 1:30 a.m. to some noises in the house, Detective Greg Warren said.
A husband, wife and their 2-year-old daughter were home at the time, Warren said.
The husband, identified as Jason Fonder, got up, noticed the door to the garage was open, and returned to the bedroom to get a handgun and tell his wife to call 911, Warren said.
Fonder confronted the burglar and fired the gun once, Warren said.

"We do not believe anyone was hit," he said.
Warren said Fonder will not face any charges for firing the gun.
"You certainly have the right to protect yourself, your family and your property," Warren said.
Police believe the burglar entered the home through an unlocked door.
The residents did not report anything missing from their home.
The Fonder residence does not have a listed phone number.
Police do not have a suspect. He is described as about 6 feet tall and he was wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt.
