Gretta Hjelseth and Jaci Heath combined for 22 points in the second half in leading the Nevis girls basketball team to a 58-48 win over Park Rapids last Thursday night at the Tiger Arena.
Hjelseth scored 18 points in the first half as the Tigers held a 27-25 lead and followed with 14 points in the second half to spark Nevis' game-clinching 31-23 run.
Hjelseth finished with 32 points and Heath added 12 as Nevis improved to 6-1 on the season. Nevis missed 15 of 26 free throws, but offset that by shooting 62 percent (23 for 37) from the field.
Kayla Stursa led the Panthers with 10 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Danielle Dent scored 11 points while Heather Tretbar had 11 points, nine rebounds, six steals and three assists as Park Rapids fell to 0-8 on the season. The Panthers shot 29 percent from the field (19 for 66).
