Motorists who use Highway 71 from Park Rapids to Menahga will have an opportunity to learn more about planned improvements during a public information meeting on Wednesday, July 1, at 7 p.m., at the Park Rapids Public Library located at 210 First Street.

The project involves the construction of turn lanes, culvert repairs and replacements, bituminous reclamation, shoulder work and paving. Detours will be phased in to minimize impacts on summer travelers.

The $6.8 million project is expected to start July 13 and be completed by September 19. Central Specialties Inc., of Alexandria, submitted the low bid. That company constructed the Highway 34 widening project through Park Rapids in 2007 and 2008.

Mn/DOT representatives and the contractor will be on hand to review the schedule and address impacts to residents, business owners and travelers.
